Sendgrid is bad at spending their marketing money

So I just learned that django-anymail no longer supports Sendgrid.

Jeff Triplett showed me their big warnings about this in their docs:

Clicking through to the Github Issue #432 we’re told:

In June 2025, Twilio SendGrid disabled use of Anymail’s testing account. This means we can’t run regular integration tests, verify features or triage bug reports relating to SendGrid. Without testing access, django-anymail unfortunately must drop official support for SendGrid.

This is perhaps the dumbest way to save $10 I’ve ever seen from a marketing department.

I realize there are dozens and dozens of SDKs they have to “support” by giving out a free account with enough usage for testing. Let’s call it 100 of them across all modern languages that would matter to a company like Sendgrid.

Even if django-anymail were in the bottom 25% in terms of usage, which I doubt, the might in total save $250/month.

Or you know… the cost of three paid clicks on LinkedIn. Better hope those three pay off for ya! 🤣
